Transport Economics Group
The ATRF Transport Economics Group will facilitate liaison between members in order to share knowledge and monitor emerging trends and issues in transport economics relevant to Australasia. The group will be of interest to members in academia, government, and the private sector.
An activity of the group is to host relevant webinars, with presentations by guest speakers and Q&A discussions to foster knowledge exchange.

Public Transport Research Committee (PTRC)
Established in 2023, The Public Transport Research Committee (PTRC) aims to promote, improve and enhance quality public transport research in Australia/New Zealand and to better focus research on the needs of Australasian public transport (applied research). PTRC runs webinars on research topics in public transport and collates ideas on research need topics. It also hosts resources useful for researchers in this field.

Behavioural Insights Group
The purpose of the Behavioural Insights Group is to promote and improve the quality of behavioural insights research in Australia/New Zealand, and to advocate for the incorporation of evidence based behavioural methods and insights into transport and land-use planning and analysis, design, and implementation.
Established in 2025, the group meets monthly and offers webinars with external practitioners, as well as hands on practical sessions in applying behavioural insights to achieve change. And it supports, enables, and curates best practice behavioural insights research.

Asset Management and Capital Planning Standing Committee
The ATRF Asset Management and Capital Planning (AMCF) Committee formed out of a desire to raise awareness of how better asset management and capital planning could generate better value-for-money for capital investments in transport, make the most of out of the transport assets, and avoid waste. This Committee will examine research methods, and innovations that will strengthen the longterm performance and resilience of transport assets. The Committee will explore evidencebased approaches to asset lifecycle planning, renewal strategies, funding models, prioritisation frameworks and operational sustainability, enabling organisations to optimise investment decisions, manage risks, ensure reliable performance and costeffective management of transport assets.
The Committee brings together a wide range of experienced professionals and academics in transport, from transport engineers specialising in asset management and maintenance, to transport economists specialising in capital planning. We hope that, together, we can make a meaningful contribution to improving asset management and capital planning practices in this country.
